Practicing dentists came to Node59 with a firsthand problem: referrals moved through paper, fax, phone calls, and disconnected email, leaving no reliable view of status or next steps. They brought the industry expertise and original idea. Node59 turned it into a complete product, leading strategy, workflow design, engineering, AI, privacy, compliance, launch, and ongoing operation for a referral process that could stay visible across practices and specialists as activity grew.
One referral, one complete record
A guided workflow tailored to each specialty captures the patient, reason for visit, urgency, clinical notes, and required treatment information in a logical order. Details are validated before a referral moves forward, saved automatically, and adapted for pediatric cases. Practices can find specialists by field, location, relationships, and referral history. Clinical notes, radiographs, images, PDFs, DICOM files, communication, status changes, treatment updates, and reports remain securely attached to one chronological record.
Built to work beyond its own network
Practices can continue referring to the offices and clinicians they already trust while the network grows. A specialist outside the platform can securely review a referral and accept or decline it through a protected link without lengthy registration. The response remains on the record, keeping the handoff moving without returning to disconnected calls or messages. If that specialist later joins, the accepted referral connects to the correct clinic and authorized team members with controlled access and live status.
A second set of eyes throughout the workflow
AI helps turn a dentist's description in everyday language into structured information, identify likely specialties, services, urgency, and relevant details, and flag missing or conflicting information for review. It can recommend specialists using case, location, and relationship context; identify referrals needing attention; draft messages to follow up on referrals; and help prepare treatment reports and operational insights. It does not diagnose, choose treatment, or replace clinical judgment. Dental professionals review the information and retain responsibility for every clinical decision.
Privacy belongs in the foundation
The platform complies with HIPAA and PIPEDA and encrypts protected health information in storage and transit, with privacy controls built into its workflow and technical foundation. Permissions limit each practice, specialist, office team, and manager to the information and actions their role requires, while audit trails record access to protected information, state changes, and important user actions. Files follow controlled paths. Logs exclude protected health information, while encrypted backups, rate limiting, health checks, and production monitoring protect daily operation.
A better way to see it through
The live product turns a fragmented handoff into a visible, accountable process. Referring practices can see whether a referral was received, accepted, declined, updated, treated, or completed; specialists can return updates and treatment reports through the same record; and patients receive timely automated updates. Managers can understand volume, response times, delays, and completion activity. The referral's information, files, communication, responsibility, and outcome remain connected from first submission through completed treatment reporting.

Protected files and medical imaging
Clinical notes, PDFs, images, radiographs, Word documents, and DICOM files are encrypted, restricted by role, available through controlled previews, and included in the referral's audit history.
Referral state and communication
Every referral moves through defined stages. Comments, attachments, status changes, reports, and email, SMS, or notifications within the platform remain connected to its chronological record.
Explainable AI assistance
AI helps structure referrals, recommend specialists, identify missing context, suggest next actions, improve treatment reports, and reveal operational patterns. Dental professionals retain responsibility for clinical decisions.
